The i20 can be equipped with several powertrain options, all designed for maximum efficiency and performance. At the top of the range, the 100 PS 1.0 T-GDi petrol engine is also available with 48-volt mild hybrid technology.

The dual clutch system allows for lightning fast gear changes with the convenient automatic mode or you can choose to shift the gears manually.

Energy Regeneration System (ERS).

Idle Stop & Go (ISG), Alternator Management System (AMS) and low rolling resistance tyres are complemented by our Energy Regeneration System (ERS) in the 48V mild hybrid powertrain. When the car is moving in gear but with a closed throttle, the braking effect of the engine generates kinetic energy that is converted into electricity and stored in the battery. This reduces both fuel consumption and exhaust emissions.

        Rear Occupant Alert (ROA).

        Detects if a rear door was opened or shut before the car was started, then reminds the driver to check the seats upon exiting the vehicle.

        Parking Collision-avoidance Assist - Reverse (PCA-R).

        PCA-R gives you additional confidence when navigating the i20 into narrow parking spaces in reverse gear. Whenever the system detects a collision risk, PCA-R automatically engages the brakes.

        Leading vehicle departure alert (LVDA).

        This clever feature for city driving alerts the driver when the vehicle in front departs from an idle state, like at a stoplight or in a traffic jam.

        1. Lane Following Assist (LFA).

          For the first time, the i20 features Lane Following Assist (LFA). When activated, it keeps the car centred in its lane at speeds between 0 and 180 km/h on motorways and city streets.

        2. Blind-Spot Collision-avoidance Assist (BCA).

          Using radar sensors in the lower rear bumper and front camera, the system warns you of traffic in the blind spot area. Should you set the turn indicator in such a situation, it will sound an acoustic alert and brake to prevent collision.

        3. Rear Cross-traffic Collision-avoidance Assist (RCCA).

          When reversing out of areas with low visibility, the system not only warns the driver if vehicles approach from the side – it also applies the brakes automatically.

        4. Forward Collision-avoidance Assist (FCA).

          Sensing the road ahead with radar and a camera, the FCA system automatically brakes when it detects sudden braking by the car ahead, or pedestrians and bicycles on the road.

        5. Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control (NSCC).

          Utilises the state-of-the-art navigation system to anticipate upcoming curves or straights on highways and adjusts speed for safer driving.

        6. Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA).

          Audio and visual cues appear when the speed limit is exceeded. Combined with Manual Speed Limiter, ISLA can adjust the car speed automatically.
